About the Program

Escondido Federal Credit Union is proud to announce a scholarship award program to recognize outstanding students for their dedication to academic excellence. Scholarship(s) will be awarded to EFCU members who are accepted by or currently attending a postsecondary institution beginning Fall 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Be a current member of Escondido Federal Credit Union.
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average, or equivalent, of 3.0 or above.
  3. Be accepted by or currently attending a postsecondary institution beginning Fall 2026.
  4. Submit a 1,000-word essay on one of the approved topics listed below.

Essay Topics

Each applicant must submit a 1,000-word essay on one of the following topics: 

  1. Why are you choosing to go to college? What is the financial impact and benefit of this choice?
  2. Why have you chosen the career you are pursuing? How will college assist you with your choice?
  3. Why do you want to pursue your chosen field?
  4. What are your thoughts on the use of AI in educational study? What impact, if any, will AI have on your career choice?

How to Apply

Your application package must include all of the following:

  1. Completed Application
  2. Letters of Reference
  3. Copies of Transcripts
  4. 1,000-Word Essay

Application Deadline

April 30, 2026

All applications must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2026, or dropped off at the City Hall branch by 4:00 PM on April 30,2026. No exceptions will be made. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Selection Process

The Scholarship Awards Committee will review all eligible applications and determine scholarship recipients. Applications will be evaluated on content, completeness, neatness, punctuation, and grammar. The Committee may interview candidates and will rely on information provided by the student’s present school in the selection process.

Please note: The recipient’s name and picture may be used for public relations purposes.
